Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, Kyrie Irving, will be the cover star of NBA 2K18 when the next entry in the 16-year-old franchise releases on Sept. 19, 2K announced today.
Irving was picked for his list of accolades including 2012 Rookie of the Year award, 2014 NBA All-Star Game MVP, and his performance in the 2016 NBA Finals when the Cavaliers made a comeback over the Golden State Warriors from a 3-1 lead. The point guard averaged 27.1 points per game.
“It is well known that I’m an avid player of this series and I am honored to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18,” said Kyrie Irving in a press release. “It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.”
2K Sports also announced the pre-order bonus for NBA 2K18, allowing players to start four days early on Sept. 15. The $59.99 standard edition is launching for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
NBA 2K18 Legend and Legend Gold editions will retail for $99.99 and $149.99, respectively. The cover star for the special editions is Basketball Hall of Famer, rapper, and sports analyst Shaquille O’Neal. Both editions offer digital and physical Shaq items for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
