Film adaptations of video games haven’t gone very well in the past, but we haven’t seen many television adaptations. Earlier this year we did see the very well received Netflix cartoon series based on Castlevania and it has also been announced that Netflix will be adapting The Witcher series into a TV show.
It seems TV adaptations are the in thing now and it has been announced that Johnny Depp’s film production company Infinitum Nihil is set to adapt the MMO The Secret World into a TV show with Depp working as a producer along with fellow producer Gudrun Giddings.
Writer James V. Heart, best known for the film Hook, and showrunner Pam Veasey, best know for CSI: NY, are attached to the project as well. Details on the show are scarce but it will no doubt feature supernatural themes and secret agents.
“The Secret World is the ideal gaming experience to translate into a live-action episodic adventure,” Veasey told Deadline.
There is no mention of who may star in it or when we can expect to watch it on our TVs but hopefully it will air sooner rather than later. No doubt more details will follow soon.
