Hocus Pocus 2 Gilbert Identity Explained

In Hocus Pocus 2, Gilbert is the new owner of the Sanderson sisters’ old home, the Olde Town Magic Shoppe. He has retrofitted this home into a museum and gift shop, as he is a vendor with a heavy interest in witchcraft. He also is the one who helps push the film’s plot into motion: he gifts new characters Becca and Izzy with a new Black Flame Candle that brings the sisters back to life.

Gilbert is portrayed by Sam Richardson. He had his big breakout performance with his portrayal of Richard Splett in HBO’s Veep and was later nominated for an Emmy Award for his performance in Ted Lasso. He may also seem familiar to some, as he had a leading role in Werewolves Within, the film adaptation of Ubisoft’s VR social deduction game.
