How to Change Your Pet in Spelunky 2

Changing what your pet is in Spelunky 2 is a fast and easy process, and can be done as soon as you start the game.

While playing through any of the game’s modes, simply press the Options button to open up the pause menu and then scroll down to the Options tab. Select it, and then open up the Gameplay tab from that sub-menu. This’ll allow you to tweak elements of the game, including which pet you want to show up in levels for you to save.

You can currently choose to have Monty the Pug, Percy the Cat or Poochi the Hamster appear exclusively, or have any one of the three appear randomly via a randomizer option.

We have a list of all the available pets you can choose from down below, and will update it should any more be added through DLC or the like.

  • Monty the Pug
  • Percy the Cat
  • Poochi the Hamster

Does Changing Your Pet Affect the Gameplay?

As for whether there’s any impact for changing the type of pet you’re rescuing in Spelunky 2, the answer is no.

While your animal companion of choice will let out a different cry when you’re near its location based on what it is, there’s no advantage or penalty to having one pet active over another. This means you can change them up or keep them the same as you see fit without having to worry about missing out on any worthwhile content.
