How to Get the Red Jewel and What to do With it in Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 remake transforms the PS1 title into a modern classic, but it still features much of the same emphasis on obtuse puzzle-solving. Here’s how to get the red jewel and what it’s used for in Resident Evil 2.

Although some items are unique to either Leon or Claire, both will encounter and make use of the red jewel during the game. It is an item that you’ll find fairly early in your playthrough, on the east side of the police station after interacting with a statue.

Actually obtaining it is a puzzle in itself, though not a particularly difficult one.

First, you’ll need a book, which is found on the west side of the police station in the library’s lower level. You’ll then need to head to the “Art Room” over on the east side. Once there, you must combine the arm (found beside the statue) and the book, and then place it back on the statue, which will unlock a red scepter.

Examing the scepter reveals the red jewel. In case you were wondering, the clue as to how to do all this is found by developing the first roll of film you find in the police station.

But what on earth is this red jewel for? Well, it’s something you’ll not need until later in the game –though sooner rather than later in the B scenario/New Story run-through.

The red jewel is something you combine with a jewelry box that’s found in the observation room.

Inside, you’ll find the S.T.A.R.S badge, which can be used in the S.T.A.R.S office to unlock the weapons cabinet in that room. It’s a very useful item since it grants you access to much more powerful weapons (Magnum for Leon, Sub-machine gun for Claire).

That’s all the information you’ll need about how to get the red jewel and what it’s used for in Resident Evil 2. For more useful tips and guides on the game, check out our wiki page and check out our official review.

Question: How do you get the red jewel and what is it used for in Resident Evil 2?

Answer: You get the red jewel by first grabbing the book which can be found in the library’s lower level on the west side of the police station. Take this to the “Art Room” on the east side. Then, combine the ‘arm’ next to the statue in the Art Room, with the book, and you’ll be able to place it back on the statue. The red jewel is then used to open the jewelry box in the Observation Room. Combine it with the box to get the STARS badge.
