You can lock-on to items and enemies in Pikmin 3 Deluxe by pressing the ZR button when in range of something. For example, if you’re walking by some flowers with pellets inside of them, you can walk close to it and then press ZR to target it and then continuously press A to throw Pikmin at it.

You can also use this lock-on function to target monsters for your Pikmin to attack or charge. You can charge by pressing the X button to make your squad of Pikmin attack towards the direction that you’re facing.
