X Ray attacks were among the coolest parts of the last two MK games, however in Mortal Kombat 11 things have changed quite a bit. Let’s explain how to do X Ray moves in Mortal Kombat 11, or rather, Fatal Blows, which is what they are now known as. We will explain the difference between the two.
How to Do X Ray Moves in Mortal Kombat 11
OK so like we alluded to, X Rays are technically no longer in the game for Mortal Kombat 11… at least, they aren’t called that anymore. There is a new feature called Fatal Blows which is extremely similar, but not totally the same.
In the last two MK games, you could do X Ray moves whenever you had a full super meter. Missing meant you lost all your energy, but if you landed it, the risk was worth the reward as you’d preform a brutal and devastating attack on your enemy for a ton of damage.
There’s a system still in place for that here, but here’s the difference. There is no super meter, and instead there are two bars: offensive and defensive, each with their own set of moves which don’t include X Rays AKA Fatal Blows.
Instead, you can do a Fatal Blow any time while you are at critical health. If you miss, you don’t lose the ability to do it, you just have to wait for short cooldown before you can try again. Obviously your health is low at this point, so you might not survive to have a second chance but that’s the breaks.
It’s still a brutally cool-looking move that does a ton of damage, but the big difference is you can only do it once per match. If you land one of the X Ray like Fatal Blows, you can’t do it again for the rest of the match. So choose your time wisely.
If you’re ahead in rounds, maybe you save it for in case your opponent catches up instead.
There are also powerful timing attacks called Krushing Blows which look kind of like X Rays, but are powerful timing-based attacks that you can preform once per match each.
That’s all you need to know about how to do X Rays in Mortal Kombat 11. Hopefully that cleared up the confusion for you! Check our our wiki guide if you are looking for more Mortal Kombat 11 tips and tricks, or read our scored review for our full thoughts.
