How to Change Difficulty in Mortal Kombat 11

NetherRealm Studios has finally brought the popular fighting game franchise back with the release of Mortal Kombat 11. The game picks up directly after the events of MKX, and also sees the return of some familiar faces we haven’t seen in quite a long time. Here’s how to change the difficulty setting in Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11’s Difficulty Settings

When playing through the game’s story mode for the first time, the game will prompt you to select your desired difficulty setting before the story even begins. You’ll be able to choose between Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Very Hard.

Medium is the default difficulty setting the game starts you off with, and is generally regarded as the intended way to play the game.

However, if you feel the need to turn the difficulty up or down once you’ve gotten used to Mortal Kombat 11’s mechanics, you can do so as well.

How to Change Difficulty Settings

To change the difficulty, you’ll first need to exit to the game’s main menu, then select the Konquer story mode again. From the Chapter Select screen, choose the chapter you want to start from, and press square (or X on Xbox One) to access the Story Settings.

From here, you’ll be able to choose whichever difficulty setting you want and confirm your selection. Once you’ve done so, just select the chapter and jump into the game from there.

While you can pause the game while in the middle of the story, there’s no way to actually adjust the settings without backing out to the main menu altogether.

So if you want to fiddle with the settings again, just quit the story mode as per normal, then change the Story Settings from the Chapter Select screen.

That’s all you need to know about how to change difficulty in Mortal Kombat 11. Be sure to check our Mortal Kombat 11 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
