Is There Splitscreen Local Co-Op Multiplayer in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate? Here’s What You Need to Know
One of the best ways to make the grind for all that fancy gear all the easier in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is to play alongside some friends. Having numerous hunters slashing away at a ferocious beast tends to make far lighter work of its health bar than you’d ever be able to manage on your own, significantly reducing the time each hunt takes. As such, some players may be wondering if there’s splitscreen local co-op multiplayer in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, especially considering the Nintendo Switch has become such a great co-op system.
Unfortunately, there’s no splitscreen co-op in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. However, you’re not completely out of luck when it comes to co-op play in the game. Whether your friends have brought their Nintendo Switch’s with them to wherever you’re all meeting, or whether you’re all in the comfort of your homes, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate has a co-op multiplayer option.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate allows for you to join up with up to three other players in either local wireless co-op play, or online. To do this, you’ll need to head to the Village, and then press ZL on your Nintendo Switch to bring up the Multiplayer menu. Then, it’s as simple as either Creating a Hub, or Searching for a Hub to start a session. Here, you’ll have the option to either search using local wireless or online, too.
While it may come as disappointing news to some fans that numerous players can’t play splitscreen co-op on the same system, it’s probably for the best. We can’t imagine playing Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate with just one Joy-Con, or even if we all had Pro controllers, that the system would be able to keep up with all of the action on-screen at once.
