Hogwarts Legacy Animal Symbols Cheat Sheet Location

If you’re absolutely baffled by the animal symbol doors, fear not, there’s actually a cheat sheet you can find in Hogwarts itself that makes these far easier to understand.

To find it, you’ll use the Divination Classroom Floo Flame to fast travel close to it. Rather than going up the stairs towards the classroom itself, though, turn around and go through the archway up the small wooden steps.

You’ll now be brought out into a room where there are large wooden support beams to your left. Keep running down here and take your first right. At the end of this, you’ll see one of the animal doors, with a chalk board next to it.

Just next to the chalk board is a small chest. Open this, and you’ll find the Hogwarts Legacy animal door cheat sheet.

This cheat sheet will show each of the various animal symbols you’ve seen that surround the puzzle doors with a number next to them.

To change the animal in each triangle on the door, simply use their corresponding panels – it’s important to note that some of them are hidden behind a Revelio spell, so just be sure to try that if you’re stuck. In order to get things to add up, you’ll obviously need to know the corresponding number for each, though.

All Animal Door Numbers in Hogwarts Legacy

Rather than constantly having to refer to the cheat sheet in-game, we’ve compiled all of the different animal door numbers below for your convenience. Or you can just check out the screenshot of the cheat sheet above, so you can see exactly what each animal symbol looks like.

  • Demiguise – 0
  • Unicorn – 1
  • Dragon – 2
  • Hydra – 3
  • Owl – 4
  • Crab – 5
  • Salamander – 6
  • One-eyed Monster – 7
  • Spider – 8
  • Snake – 9

There’s also a nice and easy way to quickly check what animal corresponds to each number by simply looking around the edge of the door. Going from the bottom left-hand animal and following it clockwise around the door, the animals are in number order.

In other words, the Demiguise is the first animal on the left-hand side of the door as you’re looking at it, followed by the Unicorn, then the Dragon, Hydra, Owl, Crab and so on. This way, you don’t need to keep opening that pesky cheat sheet to figure out what animal equates to which number. Just remember they start at zero, and not one!

Solving Animal Symbol Door Puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy

Now that we have the cheat sheet and know what number each animal represents, all you need to do is some basic maths, and some exploring around each of these mysterious puzzle doors that you find.

Nearby, you should find a triangle symbol with a ‘?’ in the center, and an inverted triangle symbol with ‘??’ in the middle.

What you need to do is interact with the animal symbol door and reveal the little maths equations you need to solve. In the middle of both the triangle and inverted triangle on the door, there will be a number. What you need to do is get all three numbers that surround those middle numbers to add up to it.

In the example above, we know that the number we need to reach is 9 in the top triangle, and we have a two already. Using the cheat sheet, we know that the Hyrdra (the dragon with three heads) represents the number 3, meaning we need the ‘?’ symbol on the door to represent four.

The cheat sheet tells us that this is the Owl symbol, so go ahead and spin the triangle on the wall until it shows the Owl.

The bottom triangle has a four in the middle, and the two numbers we’re given add up to 1, so we need a three, which we know is the Hydra symbol shown in the top triangle. Find the inverted triangle on the wall near the door, and select the Hydra.

Now that you’ve got the correct numbers, interact with the door and it should open up for you!

As long as you know what number every animal symbol represents — which you do thanks to this guide and the cheat sheet found near the Divination classroom — you can open any of the animal symbol doors in Hogwarts Legacy. This includes those found in the Central Hall, as well as the Ravenclaw Door.

That is everything you need to know about how to open animal doors in Hogwarts Legacy. For more help, like what to do if the game won’t download, be sure to search the rest of Twinfinite.
