Fortnite: What the Red & Blue Lines Are on the Map in Chapter 3 Season 2

With the release of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, there’s a ton of new locations to check out on the map, Battle Pass rewards to grind out, and some new movement mechanics to get used to while building is temporarily disabled. What you might have noticed when taking a look at the map in-game, however, are the red and blue lines on the map in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2.

In this guide, we’ll be explaining what they are, and what, if any, affect they might have on the gameplay moving forward this season.

Fortnite Blue & Red Lines on Map Explained

The blue and red lines essentially map out the Resistance and IO territory across the map. The blue is the territory of the Resistance, where you’ll find friendly NPCs that’ll fight alongside you and sell you powerful weapons for Gold Bars.

The red lines mark the territory of the Imagined Order (IO). This is where you’ll find buildings that have the IO Chests you need to open to complete challenges, as well as hostile NPCs that’ll shoot you on-sight, so be careful.

Outside of this, there aren’t a whole lot of other ways in which these lines affect the gameplay for the time being. Whether the territory of each group will change throughout the course of the season as players help the Resistance fight back against the IO remains to be seen. It could also hint at some epic-scale war for the end-of-season event, though we’re speculating at this point.

Should we discover anything else about the red and blue lines on Fortnite’s map, we’ll update this post and let you know. For everything else on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite, or check out our most recent coverage on the new season below.
