How to Get Lord of Wolves Catalyst in Destiny 2

First, before we dive into the details for how to get the Lord of Wolves catalyst in Destiny 2 as of Season of the Dawn, let’s make one thing super clear in case you didn’t know. In order to actually get the catalyst you must first own Lord of Wolves, otherwise it will never drop.

The shotgun is a random world drop from year 2. So you’ll need to either beg RNGesus, or if you have legendary shards to spend you can stop by Xur every weekend and buy the fated engrams until you get lucky.

Prior to Shadowkeep, Spider Wanted bounties also had a chance of dropping Lord of Wolves. We cannot confirm that still works at the moment but if you want squeeze a little extra chance just in case, knock those out. It can technically drop from anything so why not.

Anyway, once you have the shotgun to get the Lord of Wolves catalyst, all you need to do is complete activities from the core modes and you’ll have a chance of it dropping.

How to Get the Lord of Wolves Catalyst in Destiny 2

  1. Complete Strike or Crucible activities.

It’s early in the Season of Dawn as of the time of this writing, so reports from players are still trickling in. We can confirm that you can get the catalyst to drop by completing Strike activities, and we are hearing players are getting it as a drop from Crucible as well. It’s very possible Gambit will drop it too, but we cannot confirm that at the time of this writing.

Lord of Wolves is arguably one of the best shotguns in Destiny 2 right now for any activity where a shotgun is relevant, which is most of them. It hits like a truck on any enemy, especially if you have the ammo to use Release the Wolves and it will murk just about anyone in Crucible for a range that only topped by Precision Slug shotguns like The Chaperone.

The exotic catalyst perk only makes Lord of Wolves even stronger. In its normal form the shotgun receives extra stability, and when Release the Wolves is active it gains a big buff to its reload speed.

Once you have the Lord of Wolves catalyst unlocked, you simply need to get a bunch of kills with it to unlock the perk. It’s not too hard, just run around your activity of choice and go crazy with it.

That’s all you need to know for how to get the Lord of Wolves catalyst as of Destiny 2 Season of Dawn. For more tips, tricks and FAQs answered, be sure to check out our year 3 wiki guide.
