Finally, thanks to the fact that sunset in Destiny 2 is no longer a thing after the community hard passed on it, Moon weapons have been re-added back into the game. This is great news because a lot of the Moon weapons in Destiny 2 were quite strong and fun to use. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to get these updated Moon weapons now in Destiny 2 as of Season of the Splicer. Here’s what you need to know.
How to Get Updated Moon Weapons in Destiny 2
Moon weapons are obtained the same way that always have been, except now, they drop without a power cap and some updated perk rolls. If it’s been a while since you’ve grinded for them, or you joined after sunsetting became a thing in Destiny 2. Read on for how to get them.
First, you must unlock the Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon (near Eris). This is done by progressing through the Shadowkeep story. It’s unmissable as long as you play through to the point where you have unlocked it.
You’ll need essences that can be purchased from the Lectern using Phantasmal Cores. Phantasmal Cores can be bought using 20 Phantasmal Fragments which can be obtained by completing Lectern bounties and killing Nightmare enemies. Nightmare Hunts also have a chance of dropping the Essence that it shares a name with, allowing you to bypass the grind for Cores with a little bit of luck.
Also, weekly Lectern bounties will also give you additional Cores if you are willing to complete them.
After you’ve received an essence, you simply need to complete the requirements for completing it which varies from weapon to weapon, but normally involves killing stuff with the correct weapon type. Easy peasy.
Once you’ve turned the completed essence quest in, you’re all set and you’ll receive your weapon and roll. Keep in mind that updated Destiny 2 Moon weapons, such as Tranquility, have new rolls now.
That’s all you need to know for how to get Moon Weapons in Destiny 2. For more on Destiny 2, be sure to check out the latest on the ongoing Solstice of Heroes event or our review of Beyond Light.
