If you’ve seen any footage of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in action, you know it’s a beautiful game. It’s easily the most visually-impressive Assassin’s Creed game to date and a strong contender for one of the prettiest games this console generation. As any PS4 owner knows, games look and (usually) run better when they are running on PS4 Pro. Unfortunately though, some games don’t take advantage of the extra horsepower under the hood.

Simply put, the game is PS4 Pro compatible. What does that mean though? Well, the game will run at 4K. Sadly, it won’t run at 60 frames per second. Instead, it will hover around 30 frames per second. We say hover because in quite a few recent videos with Odyssey on PS4 stacked up against itself on Pro, the game is shown to run around 30 frames per second, with a few drops here and there.

While 60 frames per second would be nice, a steady 30 frames per second will still be stunning to look at, especially in 4K. While not Pro exclusive, one of the things that makes a game like this really stand out graphically is HDR or High Definition Range.

Basically, HDR heightens the levels of contrast on screen — darker blacks, brighter whites, deeper blues and so on. Sometimes, HDR is the factor that makes a game shine rather than 4K. Fortunately, the game will shine because it is in fact HDR and PS4 Pro compatible. For it to work for you though, you’ll need an HDR  TV (which are also usually 4K).
