The Nintendo Switch led all games consoles in U.S. sales during April and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe outsold all other games during the month, according to a Nintendo press release citing NPD sales data.

With 280,000 units sold, the Switch outpaced competitors Xbox One and PlayStation 4 along with Nintendo’s own 3DS line of handheld systems for the second month in a row. Further, the 3DS moved 68,000 units, and Nintendo claims the two systems’ combined sales of 348,000 accounted for nearly half of all U.S. game hardware sales in April.

This was the second consecutive month the Switch has come out on top in hardware sales. The hybrid home/portable console also led all consoles in U.S. sales during its launch month of March by surpassing 900,000 units sold. This early success has reportedly spurred Nintendo to double Switch production and increase its fiscal year 2017 sales target to 10 million units sold.

On the software front, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe sold more than 460,000 physical copies and around 90,000 more digital copies last month, bringing the game’s total April sales to 550,000. Nintendo claims the game’s 460,000 physical purchases put it at the top of the retail sales charts for game software. As Nintendo was keen to point out, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe pulled this off despite not releasing until April 28, just one day before NPD cut off the reporting period on April 29.

Another Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was the month’s third-best-selling title. Nintendo did not provide precise sales figures for Breath of the Wild.
