Blizzard tweeted out a video today announcing the event by showing off a brand new skin for Chinese character Mei. It appears Blizzard is bringing the Lunar New Year celebrations to Overwatch, with a focus on Asian characters as Overwatch’s Korean Twitter account also released a clip of a new D.Va skin seen below.

There’s no word yet on what exactly this event will bring along. Whether it has a new brawl, more cosmetic items, or is just a couple skins is unknown. The Year of the Rooster will be the forth Overwatch season event after Summer Games in August, Halloween in October, and Holiday in December.

Speaking about Mei skins, her legendary Santa Claus outfit during the Holiday event got some backlash from players saying its design was just a recolored version of her base skin. Perhaps her new skin’s inclusion in the Year of the Rooster announcement is an apology present from Blizzard?
