While the 2021 edition had a small part in-presence for media and business visitors, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association announced that the 2022 edition will finally open its doors to the general public again at the traditional Makuhari Messe venue in Chiba, near Tokyo.

September 15 and 16 will be business days, open to media and business attendees only as usual, while September 17 and 18 will be public days for everyone. The small difference from the traditional setup is that the general public will also be admitted on September 16 after 2:00 pm local time.

That being said, the event will also bring back the strong online presence it had last year, with most livestreams both in Japanese and English, demos, and the virtual reality tour, for those who cannot attend in person.

In order to comply with Japanese national and local government policies, the number of tickets sold will be limited and children o elementary school age and younger won’t be admitted to the venue.

Below you can read the outline of the event and its theme:

“Nothing Stops Gaming”

We had to give up doing fun things one after another over these two years.
How many times we thought, what happened to our days?
Even then, we still had games that kept us going.
Thrilling plot twists, captivating and heated experience lightened up our
everyday life.
Games became our hope.
2022 is the year to show the real spirit of games.
TOKYO GAME SHOW has the mission to create our hope and beyond.
Update our possibilities. Unprecedented excitement is always born out of
something you have never imagined.
Let’s open the gate to the forefront of games.
Give courage and enthusiasm to everyone. Show your love of games to each
other.
For everyone to share the “great feeling of living in this era”
Let’s dive into the heart of game craze.
Nothing Stops Gaming!!!

The Exhibition Areas at the venue will include the usual General Exhibition Area, Smartphone Game Area, eSports Area, VR/AR Area, Indie Game Area, Game School Area, and Merchandise Sale Area.

B-to-B areas will also be provided as they have in past years.

The Sense of Wonder Night 2022 event dedicated to indie games will be hosted online, while the Japan Game Awards 2022 will also come back with their own livestream.

More online activities will include the Online Exhibition Venue and many official programs on YouTube, Twitter, niconico, Twitch, Huya, DouYu, and other leading video platforms. The Online Experience Tour, free trials and demos, B-to-B online matching system, and the Tokyo Game Show VR Tour will also return.

Applications for exhibitors at the venue are open today.

Here as Twinfinite, we certainly missed walking the show floor at Tokyo Game Show, and hopefully we’ll be back this year to provide you with full coverage.
