The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection brings the two classic PS4 games — Uncharted 4 and Uncharted The Lost Legacy — from the series to the PS5 with a number of audio, visual and QoL improvements across the board to make this the definitive way to experience the two adventures. In this guide, we’ll be explaining whether you should choose Fidelity, Performance or Performance+ mode when it comes to Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection’s display modes.
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Display Options Explained
The display options in Uncharted Legacy of Thieves allow you to choose where all that extra horsepower the PS5 brings to the table should be focused on within the gameplay experience, between the resolution of the picture and the framerate the action plays out at.
To give you the best idea of what each one offers, we’ve outlined the official descriptions for each below:
Fidelity Mode
Fidelity mode displays both games in the collection at a sharp, native 4K resolution. In this mode, the game will target 30fps as its framerate, though when things get particularly busy on-screen, this can drop.
Performance Mode
Performance mode targets 60fps for its framerate, making for a much smoother-feeling experience. Those with a 4K TV will be able to experience Performance mode with an upscaled 4K resolution from a 1440p base resolution.
The changes from the resolution drop are barely noticeable if you’re just naturally playing the game and not trying to look for the differences.
If you’re playing on a 1080p HD TV, this mode will provide a 1080p resolution supersampled from a 1440p base with improved anti-aliasing.
Performance+ Mode
Finally, Performance+ modes aims for a staggering 120fps target framerate and a 1080p resolution. This mode is only available when you’ve got your PS5 connected to a 120hz display, however, so keep this in mind.
How to Change Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Display/ Rendering Mode
- Go to the ‘Settings’ menu by pressing Options while in-game, or by selecting ‘Settings’ from the main menu.
- Go to the ‘Display’ tab.
- Select the ‘Rendering Mode’ option and then press left and right on the d-pad to cycle through the options.
Which Display Mode Should You Choose?
In our opinion, the best display option out of the three is Performance mode. While pixel peepers may be able to spot the difference in the quality of visuals, lighting and shadow effects, generally speaking, Performance mode still looks fantastic.
That’s because the 1440p base resolution is sharp enough to bring these beautiful worlds to life, especially given they were originally released on PS4. Plus, by choosing the Performance mode, you get the super smooth framerate that makes scaling cliffs and shooting baddies in the face just that little bit more natural-feeling and generally more satisfying to play.
That’s everything you need to know regarding whether you should pick Fidelity, Performance or Performance+ mode in Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection. For more tips, tricks and guides, search for Twinfinite or see more of our coverage on the game below.
