Boltrend Games announced that it will publish an English version of Sega’s mobile JRPG Idola Phantasy Star Saga.
The game was announced in 2018 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Phantasy Star series, but it never received an English version from Sega itself.
Now Boltrend Games, that already publishes the game in Taiwan, is preparing to release an English localization.
As a matter of fact, a beta is already available on Android. Unfortunately, it’s playable only in South-East Asia (except Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore), Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil.
That being said, we asked a Boltrend representative on the dedicated Discord channel, and we’ve been told that the final version of the game will be made available both in North America and Europe.
The beta test will continue until August 10.
Idola: Phantasy Star Saga is set in the world of Vandor, and features the usual free-to-play with gacha business model.
That being said, it has some interesting mechanics, like the ability to have your characters follow the path of law or chaos, changing their looks and abilities considerably
Below you can enjoy an extensive trailer of the Japanese version since we don’t have one for the English version yet.
If you’re interested in less… mobile Phantasy Star games, Phantasy Star Online 2 is now available globally on Steam, Windows 10, and Xbox One.
Sega also recently announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which will basically be a new game operated in parallel with the original Phantasy Star Online 2, and will come to the same platforms.
