Sony released a new trailer to display its mission across its businesses, and PlayStation takes the front and center stage.
The trailer, titled “Sony’s Purpose” pretty much embodies the idea of “kandou” launched by former CEO Kazuo Hirai, while working as a sort of mission statement. Unsurprisingly, the PlayStation brand plays a primary role in conveying that.
We get to see plenty of people enjoying their PS4, on top of a look at games like Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding.
It’s certainly interesting to see how PlayStation went from an adventurous experiment a few decades ago to an absolutely crucial pillar of Sony’s business, often capable to almost single-handedly support its profitability.
You can check it out below.
Just yesterday, Sony announced its financial results while relaying that the PS4 has shipped 110.4 million units. We also heard that the next-gen PS5 console is still on-track for a Holiday 2020 launch.
We then saw a very impressive Unreal Engine 5 tech demo running on the new console, while Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney had very flattering words for its performance.
While Sony has been holding back quite a bit in promoting the PS5 as of yet, CFO Hiroki Totoki encouraged us to wait and see the results before judging.
