As a result, you’re most likely wondering how to start the Broken Hearts Valentine’s event in Borderlands 3.

Starting the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Event

The good news is that you don’t really have to do anything to start the Broken Hearts event. As long as you’ve downloaded the most recent update that released on Feb. 13, you’ll automatically be ‘opted-in’ to the Broken Hearts event.

That means you simply need to go and find and defeat as many enemies as you can. When you do, you’ll notice some of them have floating hearts above them.

Simply shoot these and you’ll ‘break hearts.’ Break enough hearts to earn rewards from Maurice for helping with his research efforts.

Turning Off Borderlands 3 Limited-Time Events

Following the catastrophe that was the Bloody Harvest event that drove players away from the game rather than bringing them in, Gearbox has now announced the option to turn off in-game events, including Broken Hearts.

To do so, you’ll need to make your way to the Main Menu. From here, select Play and then within this menu, at the very bottom, is the option to ‘Disable Broken Hearts Day.’

Select this and it’ll turn the event off. You can turn it back on at any time by returning to this menu and selecting the ‘Enable Broken Hearts Day’ option.

This will remain here for all future Borderlands 3 events, too.
