Earlier this month, the publisher announced that Respawn’s founder would take on a new role at the helm of DICE Los Angeles.

Jorgensen started by clarifying that Zampella has not stopped working at Respawn and he’s still running the studio. Electronic Arts is simply asking him to do more.

Part of what EA has been doing is trying to make sure he has all the resources that he needs. Having him oversee DICE LA also gives him the opportunity to pull resources into the Respawn team is he needs to.

Jorgensen doesn’t want anyone to be mistaken that expanding Zampella’s remit means in any way that he’s not overseeing Respawn. He has a great team and a great management team there and EA is continuing to bolster that team, but Zampella is still helping every day at his studio and across the publisher’s entire portfolio.

He also talked about the relationship with Respawn.

“We’re very excited about him and the whole team about how they’ve integrated into the company. It’s never easy to be a small company and get acquired by a big company, and I think that what the Respawn team hopefully has found out is that we’re actually not bad guys and we’re pretty fun to work with… Bad people. Sorry. Didn’t mean to say “bad guys” ’cause Laura is a really good girl… lady. (laughs)”
