Developer Media Molecule has revealed the official release date for their long in development title, Dreams, during today’s PlayStation’s State of Play live stream.
The much anticipated and highly creative title will be available worldwide on Feb. 14, 2020.
First revealed back in 2013, Dreams is both a video game and game creation system. In Dreams, players will be able to create their own varied and vast gaming experiences and share them with other players.
Once quite a mysterious title, we now know quite a bit more about the moment to moment gameplay. Dreams has been available in an early access form for select PlayStation players since April 2019.
It was recently announced that this early access period would be coming to an end, and that a live-streamed award show would be organized to show off the community best creations.
There will be four main gameplay modes available to players: Dream Surfing, Dream Shaping, Homespace Editor and Community Jam.
Dream Surfing is the traditional play section of the game, and it is here that players will be able to search for and experience others’ creations.
Dream Shaping is where the creation happens, and it is here that players will be able to craft both assets and full experiences for others to enjoy.
The Homespace Editor is the player’s central hub and playground, and here players can customize and personalize their own space.
Community Jam is a themed contest run by Media Molecules where players can create content based around a certain theme and others vote on their favorites.
The game was originally set to release in 2018 and was pushed until 2019, and then again into 2020.
