Minecraft Adding Bees This Month to Support a Good Cause

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Minecraft will be welcoming a new flying friend known as the Buzzy Bee in their upcoming update to the game on Dec 11. Not much is known about the Buzzy Bees or the changes coming to the game alongside them, but it’s a safe bet to expect a little honey and a lot of noise.

For those wanting to know more, there will be livestreams of the upcoming content from Dec. 6 to 8 in the US, Brazil, and Austrailia. The US livestream will be on Dec. 6 and starts at 4pm PT.

With this new update and buzzy bee inclusion, Minecraft has teamed up with the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to benefit the Earth’s real bees that need a helping hand (or wing).

This isn’t Minecraft’s first partnership with the WWF, a similar fundraising initiative went along side the inclusion of Pandas in the game and the Paws and Claws Cosplay Pack almost exactly a year ago.

Those interesting in donating can do so during the aforementioned live streams, by purchasing merchandise featuring the blocky insect that releases Friday, or by buying the “Character Creator Bumblebee costume”. Mojang has promised 62.5% of the proceeds will go to the WWF, with a $100,000 donation of their own to kick things off.

What better way to show your love for Minecraft (and bees) than to jump in (or return) on Dec. 11 to see the new changes plus meet some new yellow and black friends. This new version of the game will bring with it currently unknown community challenges that will run Dec. 13 through 15.
