Arise: A Simple Story has a new trailer to celebrate its launch today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the EGS. The sequence showcases yet more of the game’s beautiful environments, as well as hinting at the special pilgrimage through the afterlife that its story tells.
For those not up to speed, Arise was first teased during PlayStation’s State of Play stream back in September. The game tells a heartfelt tale of an old man’s life, interwoven with love and loss, through the symbolic landscapes of his memories. It features a unique traversal mechanic that allows players to manipulate time in single-player or light cooperative play.
The game has been developed by Piccolo Studio, a team of just 15 based in Barcelona. Piccolo was established by three friends who quit their corporate jobs to pursue their long-time dream of creating handcrafted video games. Piccolo, Italian for “small,” alluding to the tight-knit nature of the team.
Alexis Corominas, one of the founders of Piccolo Studio, remarks:
“Arise is a deep narrative, carefully crafted to transcend both the literal and metaphorical. We travel together with an old man across artistically stunning landscapes, each of which represents a crucially poignant moment of his life, lush with love and loss.
We hope players will find themselves walking alongside him on a path of self-reflection, and, with each step, relate to the heartfelt magic in his story. We can’t wait for the players to discover what—or whom—they and the old man will find throughout the journey.”
Arise’s soundtrack has been composed by BAFTA Award-winning composer David García.

Arise is now available as a digital download on PS4, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store for $19.99 USD.
