Fortnite: How to Play Prop Hunt (Island Code)

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite may have started out as a PvE game, which then evolved into the biggest and most popular PvP battle royale title, but that’s not all that it is. The Creative Mode allows players to come up with their own weird and wonderful game modes within the world of Fortnite, and someone’s made a Prop Hunt game mode. Here’s how to play Prop Hunt in Fortnite and what the island code is.

What Fortnite Prop Hunt Is

If you’ve never really heard or seen much about this game mode, let us explain. It’s essentially a large-scale game of hide and seek set in Fortnite’s world. There are two teams, one set hide while the other is trying to find them.

Those hiding are given the Prop-o-Matic, which enables them to take on the form of any item they point their weapon at.

On top of hiding and hoping they’re not eliminated by the other time, those hiding must also try and collect various gold Fortnite coins scattered across the map to score points.

To make things even more difficult, those hiding as props will emit a whistling noise every once in a while, which can be heard when in the nearby area, helping those seeking to identify players pretending to be regular items.

Meanwhile, the other team is given scoped revolvers, suppressed SMGs, Boom Bows and Boogie Bombs and must seek out the team hiding as random Fortnite items in the area.

How to Play Prop Hunt in Fortnite

To play Prop Hunt, you’ll need to head into either the Creative or Playground modes in Fortnite. Both of these can be accessed from within the Battle Royale lobby by selecting the game modes from the selection screen.

Once you’ve done this, ensure that your game is set to ‘Fill’ to enable you to play Prop Hunt with other players, otherwise you’ll just be in a game on your own, and that’s no fun at all. Upon loading into the Creative or Playground lobby, you’ll then need to look for one of the creator portals. You can see what they look like in the screenshot above.

After finding one, simply press X on Xbox One, Square on PS4, Y on Switch, and E on PC. This will enable you to then enter an ‘Island Code.’ One that you can use that popular YouTubers and streamers such as BasicallyIDoWrk, JordanFisher, and Marksman have played themselves, is: 6069-9263-9110.

Enter this when prompted to do so and confirm this is the island you want the portal to take you to by pressing Y, Triangle, X, or left-clicking on the confirm option. Then, hop inside. You’ll then have about 60 seconds while the game waits for other players to join. Once the timer has lapsed, you’ll then be put onto one of the two teams and the game of Fortnite’s Prop Hunt will begin.
