Bleeding Edge
Bleeding Edge is a new 4 versus 4 online multiplayer title that comes from Ninja Theory, the team behind DmC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
The trailer that was shown during the conference gives us a look at several different characters utilizing a variety of weapons in several arenas. It seems that the title will be heavily emphasized on melee combat.
Some folks might be disappointed to see the team take quite the departure from narrative-heavy character-action titles that the studio is known for, but this is still Ninja Theory we’re talking about.
As long as they put all of their efforts into this stylized multiplayer brawler, then we can expect a great game to come from this. Since the developer has been acquired by Microsoft, Bleeding Edge will be coming to Xbox One and PC soon.
No release date was revealed but a technical Alpha for the game will be starting up on June 27 for PC players.
Blair Witch
Yes, the indie cult horror film that went on to be remembered as one of the spookiest movies out there is getting a new video game adaptation and it’s being developed by the folks over at Bloober Team –the same guys who worked on Layers of Fear.
And similar to their past titles, Blair Witch is a psychological, story-driven horror game inspired by the film that will apparently study your reaction to fear and stress. You also get to explore some haunted woods and other locations with your trusty dog by your side.
And I will say this right now: if anything happens to the dog while playing this game, then I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Blair Witch launches for Xbox One and PC on Aug 30. It’s a strange time for a scary game like this to release but hey, we’ll take it.
12 Minutes
12 Minutes is described as an interactive thriller about a man in a time loop. In the trailer that comes from Annapurna Interactive, we see a top-down view of a couple’s apartment with the two of them having a heated discussion.
There also seems to be a detective who is accusing the wife of murder and determined to hurt both of them. Here’s a description from the official site:
“In this experience, you take the role of a husband, on what should be a romantic evening with your wife. The night turns into a nightmare when a police detective breaks into your home, accuses your wife of murder and beats you to death.
Only for you to find yourself immediately returned to the exact moment you opened the front door, stuck in a TWELVE-MINUTE time loop, doomed to relive the same terror again and again…Unless you can find a way to use the knowledge of what’s coming to change the outcome and break the loop.”
12 Minutes is planned to launch sometime in early 2020 for Xbox One and PC.
Phantasy Star Online 2
Phantasy Star Online fans rejoice! At long last, the acclaimed RPG is finally coming west to an Xbox One and PC near you.
The game will be free-to-play with 12-player parties, no level caps, and best of all, it will feature online cross-play functionality. As of right now, the only home console that the game will be coming to here in the states is the Xbox One, but there is a possibility that it can later come to other systems.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is already available for the Switch and PS4 over in Japan, so here’s hoping we get it on other platforms as well.
Crossfire X
The name Crossfire probably sounds familiar to you (and it should) as it’s one of the biggest online FPS’ in the world that’s put out by Smilegate, a Korean developer/publisher.
Crossfire X is a brand new game that is a timed exclusive for the Xbox One and from watching the cinematic reveal trailer at Microsoft’s press conference, it looks to be quite the step up from the original game.
It’s impossible to tell how this new version of Crossfire is shaping up without tangible gameplay, but the CGI trailer did showcase familiar themes like modern warfare, underwater combat, and vehicular combat.
Fun fact: the original CrossFire sits at second place on our list of games with the most concurrent players ever, at 8 million. Smilesgate will be hoping for similar success with this western release.
Forza and State of Decay 2 DLC
While not technically new exclusives, these two expansions are substantial enough we thought it only right to include them here.
During the conference, Microsoft dropped a new narrative-focused expansion that focuses on two different campaigns for State of Decay 2 titled as Heartland.
The new expansion has the player returning to Trumbull Valley and puts them into the shoes of two different protagonists that have two distinct goals. According to Undead Labs, it’s the biggest expansion that the game has seen thus far.
You can download it right now via Xbox Game Pass.
Also, Forza Horizon 4 will be getting a LEGO-themed DLC drop later next week that brings new areas and challenges that are all inspired by the famous building block toys –just make sure not to step on any. You can check it out on June 13 when it releases.
