Today, during Gearbox Software’s PAX East stage show, the developer finally revealed the much-teased Borderlands 3.

Luckily, the stage show started with CEO Randy Pitchford mentioned that “Battle Royale games are fun, but that’s not what we’re making.” Funnily, before the reveal, he had been wearing a shirt with a big “3” on the back for the whole time hidden under his jacket.

Interestingly, Pitchford mentioned that characters from Tales of the Borderlands and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel will appear in the game. He also teased some more about the show “finishing big” and it indeed did.

Platforms and release dates have not been announced, but more information has been teased for April 3. The upcoming details will be announced on the game’s official website.

The latest tease had come just yesterday (and today we heard that all of its assets have been created for the new game), but this sequel has been hinted at for a long, long time, with developers dropping sneak clues during various PAX East stage shows before.

It’s basically the end of an era, the era in which Gearbox can tease Borderlands 3 without actually showing anything about it. At long last, it’s time to take a look of the first trailer, which you can enjoy below.
