The last update Fallout 76 received was last year, when a hotfix on December 19 tended to a client crashing issues and a weapon damage bug.

In the latest “Inside the Vault” news update, Bethesda says that this new patch, arriving on Jan. 14, will address “many issues raised by the community as well as continue focus on improving performance and stability.”

For detailed specifics on the changes being made you’ll have to wait for the patch notes (that will arrive with the patch), however, the general areas being addressed will include “Challenges and quests”, ”Perks and weapons”, and the tackling of “various exploits we’ve seen.”

Moving forward, Bethesda tells us that Fallout 76 players can expect to see the next update to the game “near the end of the month.”

More “issues raised by the community” are promised to be addressed in this forthcoming update, like broken legendary mods, the number of plans vendors hold, and even more “issues with some perks”.

Needless to say, these two patches will not cover all of the issues the community has raised. In addition, these two patches don’t contain any juicy new “endgame” content that has been hinted at in previous news updates.

Fallout 76 players will have to continue to wait to find out about possible new storylines, new vaults, or the new PvP mode, but Bethesda does provide this statement:

“We know you’re eager for new content and new ways to play Fallout 76. We’re still not quite ready to share details, but we can say that the time between the announcement of our next major update and its release will be very short.”

Until this future content-filled day arrives, you can get your Fallout fix from the Fallout Classic Collection which is free to anyone who bought and played Fallout 76 in 2018. While this collection only runs on PC, console players can also take advantage of the offer.

You can find the full Inside the Vault news update for Jan. 9 here. Fallout 76 is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
