The Japanese arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment is known for its proficiency in making really awesome trailers and commercials, and today a new one was released to advertise the upcoming PlayStation Classic.
The trailer features a bunch of Japanese salarymen, who pretty much represent the age range of those who enjoyed the original PlayStation back when it was launched between 1994 and 1995.
The trio visits a typical Izakaya. If you’re wondering, that’s the local hybrid between a pub and a restaurant, where many people love to hang out in the evening while getting absolutely wasted. Then they go to sleep on the train home, provided that they don’t miss the last one. Yes, I’m digressing.
As they go through ordering and enjoying their evening, they celebrate the nostalgic games that come pre-loaded on the PlayStation Classic. As the celebration inevitably ends in a rap battle, the owner of the Izakaya joins in to sing along.
As usual with Japanese commercials, it’ll probably manage to make you laugh even if you don’t understand a single word.
Incidentally, this also gives you another chance to see what you’re missing with the western version of the console, which doesn’t include classic like Arc the Lad and its sequel, Paradise Eve, Armored Core, and SaGa Frontier.
