How to Slide in the CoD Black Ops 4 Beta

Recommended Videos

Call of Duty fans will once again be returning to the beloved world of Black Ops when CoD Black Ops 4 releases. For the time being though, you can get your CoD fill with the Black Ops 4 beta going on right now. While the full game will also sport zombies and the battle royale mode, Blackout, this first beta is only focused on competitive multiplayer. While there is a much larger emphasis in Black Ops 4 on having “boots on the ground,” there are still a few mobility tricks the franchise has become known for. In particular, being able to slide plays a huge role in getting around, as well as getting the drop on enemies.

Luckily, the slide is easy to do, and if you’ve played a previous CoD game you’re probably familiar with the controls to slide. Simply sprint by clicking down the left thumbstick then hold down Circle on PS4 (or B on XBox) to enter a slide. Unlike past games, Black Ops 4 doesn’t give you the option to wall run or double jump, so your slide will be your main way of getting out of an enemy’s line of fire. Outside of its mechanical uses, it’s also just great fun to do in the first place.

Black Ops fans should find the beta interesting, as the focus on specific character classes is a bit different from what we’ve seen in the rest of the series. The first round of beta testing for Black Ops 4 will end on Aug. 10 with another beta set to start later on all platforms. We’ll still have to wait a while, however, until we can find out more on the anticipated Blackout mode, as that has a separate beta coming sometime in September, before the game itself launches on Oct. 12.
