This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Good news and bad news for fans upset by a woman being on the cover of Battlefield V: The good news is, there will be a variant with a man on the cover; the bad news is, it’ll cost an extra $20.

Revealed via Origin.com, the cover art for the next entry in the Battlefield franchise can in fact feature someone of the male gender. However, it’s only offered via the game’s collector’s edition, which runs for $79.99 as compared to the standard $59.99. It should be noted that the change in cover art also offers no alteration or enhancement to the title’s gameplay, story or other such factors.

The news comes following a fervor over a female soldier being featured on Battlefield V’s cover, which some fans have decried as historically inaccurate. This has been countered by others who have shown that there were actually several female soldiers who served during the war, and even gained great renown for their service, such as Nancy Wake, Lyudmila Pavilchenko, and Susan Travers.

Battlefield V is currently slated for release on Oct. 19, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For more on the game, check out our coverage of the game’s reveal as well as the teaser trailer for the title.
