Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada is a bit of a different title for the series, something that can clearly be seen in the new trailer released by Koei Tecmo. Of course, the core hack-and-slash gameplay of the series remains the same, but a few new additions separate Spirit of Sanada.
Instead of focusing on the entire Sengoku era, Spirit of Sanada focuses specifically on the Sanada family during the turbulent time. The trailer shows a bit of now we’ll see Yukimura and Masayuki Sanada grow up, and the strong bond that forms between them. It’s a much more story focused Samurai Warriors game, that even has intersecting narratives and an explorable world. You’ll be able to roam around Castle Towns talking to various characters, then explore Sengoku era Japan through a world map and field exploration. There will be multiple playable characters, however, keeping with series tradition. Take a look at the full trailer down below.
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada launches on May 23 for PlayStation 4 and digitally on PC via Steam. Make sure you take a look at the previous trailer for the game as well, announcing the release date.
