Crafting is one of the many activities in FFXIV that takes time, dedication, and definitely a good sum of gil and good gear. Some crafting materials are easier to find than others, and thankfully Earthbreak Aethersand can be obtained a few different ways. If you want to go the traditional route and gather it from out in the wild, then you’ll need a Level 90 gathering class with at least decent gear equipped. Depending on the class you choose, there are four different wild sources for Earthbreak Aethersand:

  • Nosceasaur (Marine Animal)
    • Can be gathered with a Level 90 Fisher
    • Found in Upper La Noscea at the (X:25, Y:21) node
    • Difficult to catch, appears after catching 4 x Verdigris Guppies from the same node
  • Verdigris Guppy (Marine Animal)
    • Can be gathered (spearfishing) with a Level 90 Fisher
    • Found in Upper La Noscea at the (X:25, Y:21) node
  • Earthen Quartz (Mineral)
    • Can be gathered with a Level 90 Miner
    • Found in Mare Lamentorum at the (X:21, Y:34) node; 0:00-4:00AM Eorzea Time
  • Sophora Roots (Plant)
    • Can be gathered with a Level 90 Botanist
    • Found in Labyrinthos at the (X: 10, Y:35) node; 8:00-12:00 Eorzea Time

Once you have any amount of these items, you’ll then need to perform an Aetherial Reduction (unlockable with a Disciple of Land at Level 56; talk to NPC Lydrilona in Mor Dhona (X:22, Y:6) ), which will then yield you a handful of materials, including 1 x Earthbreak Aethersand.

The next method of obtaining this material is by purchasing it with Purple Gatherer’s Scrips, which can be done at virtually any Scrip Vendor in any major city or location. Here are a few examples:

  • Scrip Exchange – Ul’dah, Steps of Thal (X:14.2, 10.8)
  • Scrip Exchange – Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:6.0, Y:11.9)
  • Scrip Exchange – Old Gridania (X:14.1, Y:9.1)
  • Scrip Exchange – Mor Dhona (X:22.4, Y:6.7)
  • Lor Ul – Il Mheg (X:16.5, Y:33.9)
  • Scrip Exchange – Old Sharlayan (X:4.9, Y:9.3)
  • Hodge – Labyrinthos (X:20.3, Y:20.3)

Earthbreak Aethersand in particular costs 300 x Purple Gatherer’s Scrips a piece, so make sure you’re stocked up.

Finally, if you have some gil to throw around, you can also purchase it via the Market Board, and thankfully it isn’t especially expensive. As of this writing, you can find Earthbreak Aethersand being sold for around 1,300 gil/each, usually in batches of some denomination.
