Elden Ring Dung Eater Quest Guide

  1. Obtain two Great Runes and reach the Altus Plateau.

  2. Head back to the Roundtable Hold and the doors past the Twin Maiden Husks will be open, revealing the Dung Eater’s spectral form.

Speak with him and exhaust his dialogue, and he’ll eventually ask you to leave him alone.

  3. Obtain a Seedbed Curse, then head back to Roundtable Hold to show it to him.

There are a total of six Seedbed Curses available in the game, most of which can be obtained in Leyndell and the Haligtree, with the other one obtained as a quest reward for the Blackguard.

The Dung Eater will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key, and ask you to find his real body.

  4. Progress through the game until you reach Leyndell, the Royal Capital. You’ll need to access the Avenue Balcony, which is one of the central Sites of Grace in this area.

  5. From the Avenue Balcony, head down the stairs and keep to the left to go underneath the dragon corpse.

  6. Take the steps down and continue keeping to the left, and jump off the ledge onto the roof below you, and you should see a well just ahead with a ladder leading down.

  7. Take the ladder down and make your way through the sewers and you’ll eventually reach the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

  8. Upon reaching the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, take the ladder down, and you’ll see a Site of Grace through the first door on your left.

  9. Upon leaving the Site of Grace, turn left and drop down the hole in the metal grates on the ground.

  10. Once in the tunnel, head northwest and fight off the rats and Miranda plants, and take the ladder up.

  11. Be wary of the finger enemies here, and use the Sewer-Gaol Key on the metal door to find the Dung Eater’s real body.

Tell him to leave the gaol, then warp back to the Roundtable Hold.elden ring dung eater

  12. Back at the Roundtable Hold, you’ll find a message where the Dung Eater’s spectral form was, telling you to find him at the outer moat.

  13. Head to the moat right outside the Royal Capital, and you’ll get invaded by the Dung Eater. Beat him to obtain the Sword of Milos.

  14. Speak to him at the Roundtable Hold, and he’ll ask you to use the Seedbed Curse on his real body in the sewers.

  15. After giving his real body five Seedbed Curses, you’ll be rewarded with the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

This unlocks one of the alternate endings at the end of the game once you’ve defeated the final boss.

All Seedbed Curse Locations

As mentioned before, there are a total of six Seedbed Curses to pick up in Elden Ring. The only missable one is the one you get from the Blackguard, who you can meet in Liurnia of the Lakes. The other five can be obtained as item pickups.

Leyndell, the Royal Capital

  • The first Seedbed Curse can be obtained early on once you reach Leyndell. From the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace, head into the large building, and go up the ladder and up the stairs to find a large room. You’ll find an item on one of the chairs, which is the Seedbed Curse itself.
  • From the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace, head up the stairs and turn right, and go past the guards on the steps. Enter the Fortified Manor (it looks exactly like the Roundtable Hold), and you’ll find it in the Dung Eater’s room.

Mt. Gelmir

  • From the Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace, progress through the area until you reach the sending gate that takes you to the Audience Pathway Site of Grace where you fight Rykard. Instead of using the sending gate, turn around and find a fog gate at the other end of the room that requires a Stonesword Key to unlock. Unlock it, and drop down to the ground floor using the metal cages. You’ll find a Seedbed Curse on the chair.

Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree

  • Starting from the Prayer Room Site of Grace, head straight and go down the steps till the end of the path, then drop down and you’ll reach a room with two knight enemies. Hop off the ledge to the right, then drop down and find a room just behind you containing the next Seedbed Curse.
  • Starting from the Prayer Room Site of Grace, head to the end of the staircase till you see the two archers above you. Turn right and jump onto the archway, and follow the path till you reach a room with a knight enemy and a chest. From this room, jump onto the archway and follow the path up to find a corpse with a Seedbed Curse.

That’s all you need to know about how to complete Dung Eater’s quest in Elden Ring, and where to find all the Seedbed Curses. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
