Horizon Forbidden West Arena Medals are fairly important if you’re looking to get every weapon and armor set in the game, especially if you’re looking to get your hands on the best gear in the game. In this guide, we’ll be explaining how to get Arena Medals in Horizon Forbidden West, and what to do with them once you’ve got some in Aloy’s pockets.
It’s worth noting that before you can get Arena Medals, you’ll need to complete the side request to open the Arena. This involves Aloy having to get some machine parts from different locations marked on the map. Remember, getting machine parts requires you to target them with your weapons to remove the component. If you just destroy the machine without detaching the components first, you won’t be able to get them. Using Concentration to slow down time makes doing this much easier.
Getting Arena Medals in Horizon Forbidden West
Arena Medals are obtained by completing challenges in the Arena found by Memorial Grove.
The number of medals you earn from each challenge depends on how quickly you complete it. You can find details on the time limits and the amount of medals you’ll earn from completing the challenge within each time limit on the right-hand side of the screen when a challenge is selected.
How to Use Arena Medals
- Face away from the Arena’s main entrance and look for an NPC merchant on your right-hand side of the path in front of you called Dukkah.
Walk over to them and press Triangle to begin a conversation.
- Dukkah will allow you to exchange your Arena Medals for some of the best weapons and armor in the game. Simply select the Trade Medals option to do so.

- Select the piece of gear you want to purchase and press and hold X to purchase it, or Square to purchase and immediately equip it.
The number of Arena Medals you’ll need to purchase each piece of gear is on the right-hand side of the screen.
