First of all, we take a good look at the upcoming “Sandstorm Requiem” update that will expand the story and add the new desert region named Retem. It’ll bring a ton of goodies and features and it’ll be implemented on Dec. 15.

The same date will also see the release of two $19.99 packages with Retem-themed costumes.

On Dec. 22, we’re also getting the Christmas event with a new seasonal AC Scratch, and decorations. The new event named World Trials will also be added on the same date, prompting players to use the Sonar to find Stellar Grace scattered on the map.

Perhaps even more interesting is the roadmap for the first half of 2022, which spells what we can expect from next year, culminating with the second major update in June, which will add a new region, new class skills, chapter 3 of the story, and will increase the level cap to 60.

Incidentally, we also hear that developers are interested in bringing over the personal quarters to New Genesis, but it’ll take a fairly long time because they’re considering a significant upgrade over the feature in the original Phantasy Star Online 2.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is currently available for Xbox and PC in the west and for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming in Japan.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
