How to Destroy Vine Walls in Returnal

Whenever you come up to a black-ish vine that starts to glow orange, you’ll know that it is a vine wall. These vines are a bit tough to get by, as you can’t actually shoot your way through or go around.

Instead, you’ll have to get your hands on the Atropian Blade. This weapon serves as the game’s melee, allowing you to attack enemies and open up otherwise secret or unpassable areas, like Vine Walls.

In order to get the weapon, simply progress through Returnal’s first Biome and you’ll naturally unlock it as part of the story. Don’t worry about missing it either, as you can’t actually complete the level without getting it.

Once you get the Atropian Blade, all you have to do is melee the wall by pressing Square. This clears the path and allows you to progress.

It is also important to note that as soon as you do unlock the Aptropian Blade, you’ll also never lose it. The item will permanently be a part of your character from that point on.

And that is everything you need to know about how to destroy vine walls in Returnal. If you’re still looking for more tips, tricks, and FAQs, be sure to check out our guide wiki.
