Developer miHoYo continues to support Genshin Impact with new quest content, and the most recent has added a new playable character called Zhongli. You might remember him from an earlier chapter in the game’s story, but now he’s back with a much bigger role. So, for those wondering how to get Zhongli in Genshin Impact, here’s what you need to know.
How to Get Zhongli in Genshin Impact
You’ll get to play Zhongli as part of the new Historia Antiqua Chapter content (more on that below), but in order to actually keep him once the quest has ended, you’re going to have to score him as a Wish reward.
Yes, that’s right, just as is the case for almost every character in the game, getting Zhongli essentially boils down to trying your luck with Genshin Impact’s gacha mechanic.

Since he’s a 5-star, your chances are pretty darn low (less than 1%), but all you can do is keep pulling the game’s new Gentry of Hermitage “Event” banner (pictured above) and have your fingers crossed.
Technically, both the Gentry of Hermitage and the game’s “standard” banner can yield Zhongli, but we recommend sticking to the former since it offers a higher chance of obtaining him.

How to Unlock Zhongli’s Historia Antiqua Chapter Quest
As for Zhongli’s story quest, which offers you a chance to test out his combat prowess as well as learn some of his backstory, you’ll need to jump through a few hoops before you can take part.
Specifically, you’ll need to reach Adventure Rank 40 or above and have completed all the quests in Chapter I: Act III – A New Star Approaches. From there, you can then use a Story Key to unlock the quest, which you probably already know are rewards for completing the game’s Daily Commissions.
