The data you’ll see below is updated as of September 30, when the latest fiscal quarter (which began on July 1) ended.

In the infographic below you can see exactly how many Nintendo Switch units have been shipped to retailers, alongside shipped units for game software. We also get the same info for the veteran 3DS portable console.

The Nintendo Switch has now reached 68.3 million units shipped worldwide.

This means that 6.86 million Nintendo Switch units were shipped during the quarter.

We also hear that the estimated sell-through (which means sold to customers) for the console is over 63 million units.

For the sake of comparison, Sony has shipped 1.5 million PS4 units in the last quarter, reaching a grand total of 113.6 million units as of September 30. Of course, Sony’s console is approaching a generational switch (no pun intended), so a slowdown in shipment is to be expected.

We also get an updated outlook for the full fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2021. Nintendo has updated its forecast upward, now predicting 24 million Switch units in the twelve-month period (the previous forecast mentioned 19), which would bring the total to 79.77 million units if the new goal was achieved.

If you want to compare, you can check out the previous update that was released in August and was related to the fiscal quarter ended on June 30, 2020.
