First things first, make sure you update your game so that you’re on the latest version, then boot it up. Once that’s done, log into your island and check your mail. You should see a letter and present from Nintendo thanking you for your continued support of the game.

Open the present, and you’ll find the Yule Log, which is a decorative item that you can place around your island or in your house in Animal Crossing New Horizons. With Christmas, or Toy Day as it’s referred to in-game, right around the corner, it’s the perfect festive item to have on your dining tables for your villagers and any other friends you might want to invite over.

The Yule Log can also be customized with customization kits, giving it a slightly different look and design if you’re not a huge fan of its default appearance.

Of course, this isn’t the only festive item you’ll be getting with the winter update. More items and DIYs will become available in the game on Dec. 1, and that’s when you’ll be able to start properly decorating your island for the holiday season. Before that, you’ll also be able to celebrate Turkey Day, which is Animal Crossing’s version of Thanksgiving.
