How to Talk in Among Us

Voice Chat

Currently, Among Us does not feature any in-game voice chat. According to the creators, the game was originally created as a party game. As such, they imagined people would be in the same room using a LAN connection to communicate.

Just because there isn’t an in-game voice chat though, it doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of third party communications like Discord. Our only recommendation is that you make it so that whoever dies has to stay completely mute, or else they would tell everyone who killed them.

Alternatively, many players choose to have everyone mute the game while everyone is completing tasks. When an emergency meeting is called, everyone unmutes to deliberate, creating more of a sense of immersion.

Text Chat

If you don’t have Discord or any other means of voice chat, or if you’re playing with randoms, you can still communicate with players in-game via text chat. This can be found in the top right corner of the screen, represented by a speech bubble with wavey lines running through it.

You’ll always be able to bring this screen up while running around or in a meeting to talk.

Time needed: 1 minute

How to Talk in Among Us:

  1. Open a third party like Discord.

  2. Use the in-game Text Chat.

  3. Play Locally via LAN and discuss in person.
