No, really. I’m not joking.

In the announcement trailer, we get to see really familiar elements like Shiva, Titan, Phoenix, Chocobos, Morbols, Coeurls, and many more. Yet, the game also look new and shiny.

Final Fantasy XVI will come for PS5 and PC and doesn’t have a release window just yet. It’s clearly marked as a console exclusive, but the trailer mentions that it’ll be “for a limited time.”

We also read that this is a “stand-alone, single-player action RPG.”

Interestingly, we learn that the game is developed by Square Enix’s Creative Business Unit 3, which is led by Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida.

Below you can check out the trailer revealed during the show.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Final Fantasy franchise, it’s one of the most popular JRPG franchises of all time.

It debuted in 1987 when Square and Enix were still separate companies, and it has been growing since, with the latest numbered release being Final Fantasy XV in 2016.

That being said, we recently got the first part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake this year.

Final Fantasy XIV is also very much active and growing despite having been launched in 2010 and re-launched in 2013 following the poor reception of the original reveal, marking one of the most epic turnarounds toward success in the history of gaming.
