The news comes by way of PlayStation itself, which touted the milestone over on Twitter.

For reference, Horizon Zero Dawn was the previous record holder after selling 2.6 million copies over a much longer two week period.

As for a more general comparison with the PS4’s most popular exclusives, The Last of Us Part II remains top dog with a whopping 4 million copies sold in three days, while Sony Santa Monica’s God of War sold 3.1 million over the same number of days.

Twinfinite reviewed Ghost of Tsushima and thoroughly enjoyed it, scoring the game 4.5/5 and concluding:

“Thanks to its novel, clever approach to sandbox design, and just how damn fun it is to play, this is an unmissable experience for anybody that enjoys open-world games or is enthused by its aesthetic and setting.”
