Crouching is a pivotal part of sneaking in Last of Us 2. Not only does it make you harder to notice visually, but it also makes you quieter when you move.

You’ll use this to sneak up on enemies and execute or get around them. This makes situations where you are outnumbered or have less ammo much more manageable.

How to Crouch & Sneak in Last of Us 2

To crouch in Last of Us 2, simply tap Circle. Ellie moves far more cautiously when crouched, making less sound, and being overall stealthier.

While crouching certainly helps, you’ll need to take advantage of the other parts of Last of Us 2 that help you sneak around.

Once you reach a certain point in the game, you’ll also be able to lie prone by holding down the circle button.

The main thing you’ll need to do is keep an eye on enemy movement. Stay outside of their line of sight, memorize their paths, and use all the cover you can to either get close enough to execute them or sneak past.

Take full advantage of items like bricks and bottles to facilitate distractions as well. Throwing these items can lure your enemy into a spot you can attack them at or divert their attention away from where you want to go.

Sneaking in Last of Us 2 requires a lot of patience, and will vary from enemy to enemy. Just keep your wits about you and Ellie will be able to move around a lot easier than she would without crouching and sneaking.
