The video is narrated by game director Mathijs de Jonge, who starts by explaining the meaning of “Forbidden West,” referring to a new frontier extending from Utah to the Pacific Ocean.

We also hear that the world is even more detailed, vibrant, and immersive compared to what we saw in Horizon Zero Dawn thanks to the power of PS5. There will be “virtually no loading screens,” with super-fast fast travel, restarts from checkpoints, and booting up.

The sequel’s map is “a bit bigger” and lets you explore underwater areas.

de Jonge then talks about the new machines that we’ll encounter. There will be “dozens” of them including Shellsnappers and Sunwings. New tribes are also on the menu, some are peaceful and other are hostile.

Interestingly, one of the hostile tribes has discovered the knowledge of how to override machines, using them as beasts of war, including the Mammoth-like Tremortusks that we saw in the trailer.

We then hear about the red blight and the storms that are threatening the world and that Aloy will have to find a solution for.

You can watch the video below, and take a look at the original announcement

Horizon Forbidden West is coming in 2021 exclusively for PS5.
