Vanillaware’s 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for PS4 Finally Gets a Western Release Date in September

Today Atlus USA announced a western release date for Vanillaware’s latest and gorgeous game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for PlayStation 4.

Today Atlus USA announced a western release date for Vanillaware’s latest and gorgeous game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

Considering the years of silence by the western arm of Atlus following the release of the teaser trailer at E3 2017, I’m sure I’m not the only one who lost hope of ever getting to write this article.

Yet, the beautiful adventure game will come to the west for PS4 on September 8, 2020.

At launch, it will include only Japanese voice-overs alongside English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German subtitles.

Yet, an English voice track is also coming. While its recording has been hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be distributed after release via a free patch.

The game will cost $59.99 and pre-orders of a physical edition will grant you an art book, which is awesome considering that the art is one of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim’s strongest perks.

Below you can enjoy the announcement trailer and a batch of screenshots.

Here’s an official description of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim directly from the press release:

Vanillaware, the storytellers behind Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown, craft a sci-fi mystery epic spanning thirteen intertwining stories.

Uncover the truth and delve into a 2D sidescrolling adventure featuring gorgeous art and environments. Then, battle the kaiju in fast-paced, top-down combat. Customize the Sentinels with an arsenal of mechsuit weaponry, and fight to defend humanity!

Key Features:

  • Beautifully rendered in Vanillaware’s signature hand-painted visual style
  • Uncover a deep story through visions of the past and the future
  • The doomsday clock is ticking. Become a Sentinel pilot, customize your mech, and fight waves of kaiju in top-down tactical combat
