The title translates as Yo-Kai Academy Y: Wai Wai School Life, and it’s coming to Japan this summer for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

The game is a “school life JRPG” based on the setting of the anime series “Yo-kai Watch Jam – Yo-kai Academy Y: Close Encounters of the N Kind” and of the movie “Yo-kai Watch Jam – Yo-kai Academy Y the Movie: Can a Cat be a Hero?”

Like the anime, it’s set in the Yo-Kai Academy and stars the same hero, Jinpei Jiba, ready to discover the mysteries of the school with the rest of the members of the YSP Club.

One of the relevant elements of the setting and the game is that both the hero and his friends can fuse with Yo-Kai to become Yo-Kai heroes.

The school itself is a full-fledged city that includes high school facilities, shopping streets, themed areas, and even desert and resort areas. Due to its size and scope, it’s called “Academy City,” under the rule of a powerful student council.

Students are prompted to join unique club activities and interaction with other students is a relevant part of the game.

Interestingly, those who have Yo-Kai Watch 4++ will be able to have the two games interact in some way, but no details have been provided for now

Below you can check out the first artwork and screenshots, showcasing the cast and Yo-Kai Academy, including a map showing its vastness and varied landscape.
