Rimworld: How to Make Medicine

RimWorld is a top-down sci-fi title that tasks players with creating and managing a new frontier, located on a distant world. You’ll be tasked with plenty of the usual things you’ll find in the simulation genre, including making sure your colonies aren’t destroyed by sickness and disease. Here is everything you need to know about how to make medicine in Rimworld.

How to Make Medicine in Rimworld

While you obviously want to try and avoid getting any of your colonists sick, disease is bound to happen at one point. Luckily, there are three different ways to treat anyone who is sick.

The three categories of medicine are herbal, ordinary, and Glitterworld. Each has specific levels of potency, all of which can be boosted with varying side effects.

Herbal Medicine

The least potent of all the medicines, you’ll reserve this for treating low-end sicknesses. Honestly, you should probably even save this for the less valuable colonists.

In order to make it, you’ll need to get your hands on Healroot and make sure a colonist has a Growing skill of at least 8.

Next, plant the Healroot in your growing zone, placing walls around it to keep out animals.

After a while, the Healroot can be harvested by anyone with the Plant Cutting skill. It will automatically turn into Herbal medicine from here.

It is important to note that herbal medicine needs to be stored in the fridge. If it isn’t, organic concoctions will spoil.

Ordinary Medicine

Ordinary medicine is far more valuable than Herbal, with a total potency of 100%. You’ll want to use this for serious cases like infection and bad bleeding.

To create this, you’ll need to research Medicine Production and Drug Production and create a Drug Lab. You need to meet the following requirements to begin research.

Now that research is complete, two of your colonists must have a Medicine skill of at least 6 and a Crafting skill of at least 3.

Next, plant cotton in your growing zone and harvest it. Use this material to create 3x cloth. Also, use the guidelines above to make 1x herbal medicine.

Last, head to either an orbital or caravan trader and purchase neutroamine. Make sure that they specialize in trading Bulk Goods, Pirate Merchants, or Exotic Goods, as these will be the only ones that sell the product.

Glitterworld Medicine

Twice as strong as even ordinary medicine, Glitterworld should only be used in worst-case scenarios. Examples include surgeries where a patient will die or any extreme plague outbreak cases.

Glitterworld can only be purchased from Exotic Goods traders for about 110-140 silver.
