If there’s one thing the Epic Games Store does well, it is providing a constant stream of free titles that don’t require any sort of paywall or subscription to add to your gaming library. Seeing as their last offer has expired, Sundered Eldritch Edition has taken the spot and will be free until Jan. 16.
Sundered is a hand-drawn metroidvania, meaning it combines elements seen in classics of both Metroid and Castlevania. In Sundered, as the game’s listing says:
You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever-changing caverns filled with hordes of terrifying enemies. Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the cost of your humanity.
Sundered’s Eldritch Edition includes the Magnate of the Gong update. This update not only added new areas to explore and a new boss, but it changed the game completely by adding 4-player local co-op, meaning you don’t have to fight through the game’s horrors alone.
Sundered Eldritch Edition will be free until Jan. 16, at which time 2D platformer Horace will become the new free game.
